REVIEW

In The Lord of the Rings, Frodo’s companion Sam reflects on perseverance, saying, “They kept going because they were hanging on to something.” In Exodus, Moses learns to hold on to God’s promises when the journey becomes harder than expected.

Before Moses stood before Pharaoh, God was already preparing him. Yet Moses wrestled with questions: Who am I? Who are You? What if they won’t believe me? I am not a good speaker. Send someone else! We may criticize Moses, but we often respond the same way when God calls us beyond our ability.

God was doing more than one thing at a time. He was working out His plan while transforming Moses. What Moses didn’t expect was Pharaoh’s resistance making things harder for the Israelites. Moses wasn’t questioning WHAT God would do, but struggled with HOW He would accomplish it.

The pathway that leads to God’s glory rarely runs through the avenue of our understanding.

The unexpected and unpredictable moments are often where God shapes us while putting His glory on display. Eventually, there will be no doubt that God was the One working out His plan.

When God gets His glory it will be very clear that He is the one bringing it about. This will happen regardless of our response.

God reveals His person while He is working out His plan. Even when the Israelites felt crushed and overwhelmed, God remained faithful.

The same God who fulfills His promises is the same God that calls us to Himself. His promises are not upheld by the strength of our faith but by the faithfulness of the One who made them.

In Exodus 6:6-8, God declares His “I wills.” These promises reveal His character and remind us that our hope is not found in having every answer, but in knowing Him.

Instead of asking, “Why is this happening?” we can ask, “What are You revealing to me?”

Instead of asking, “Why haven’t You acted yet?” we can ask, “What are You teaching me while I wait?”

Instead of asking, “Have You forgotten me?” we can ask, “How are You being faithful to me in this season?”

I WILL is not an invitation for us to figure it all out. It is an invitation to know Him more.

REMEMBER
I WILL is not an invitation for us to figure it all out. It is an invitation to know Him more.

REFLECT

Where in your life right now do you feel tempted to ask, “What is God doing?” instead of trusting who God is in the middle of it?

How have you seen God shaping you through something you would not have chosen, even if it didn’t make sense at the time?

What “I will” promise of God do you need to hold onto more closely in this season of waiting or uncertainty as you review His promises (Exodus 6:6–8) or other promises in Scripture?

Word of the week: I WILL

RESPOND

God, when we cannot see the way forward,
steady our hearts in who You are.
When we are tempted to question Your hand,
anchor us again in Your faithfulness.

You are the God who speaks “I will”
over what feels impossible and unclear.
Teach us to trust not because we understand,
but because You are near and You are sure.

Shape us in the waiting,
refine us in the unknown.
And remind us again—
You are at work, even here.

So we rest in You,
not striving to figure it all out,
but learning to know You more.

RELATE
This week, text one person who may be in a waiting or hard season and ask:

“Hey, what do you feel like God is teaching you right now?”

Then simply listen. No fixing—just presence and care.
